The Story
In the artist's words
L'été Manhattan is a fusion of kinetic energy and deep intimacy - a story that begins with a transatlantic flight, culminating in an arrival where the sprawling city suddenly narrows down to just two people. A cinematic melodic house album with driving progressive basslines and an intimate French-American vocal dialogue.
Told through delicate French whisper-pop and warm American indie voices, the album follows a French girl arriving in New York City for a summer break to reunite with her lover. It opens in the golden light of a Manhattan rooftop - the lingering heat of late afternoon, the soft glow on the glass skyline, and the electric anticipation of a moment that is no longer imagined, but real.
As the sun sets, the city awakens. The air carries the heavy warmth of the concrete, conversations drift between two languages in dimly lit downtown restaurants, and the chaotic pulse of the streets fades into the background. There is no urgency here - only the magnetic pull of the night, only the feeling of being exactly where you are meant to be.
Through the night, the album moves deeper into the underground. Some moments are explosive and shared in the heavy sub-bass of a Brooklyn club, others remain unspoken - a quiet walk down empty midnight avenues, thoughts carried into the neon glow, and then the return to each other, where everything feels grounded and certain.
And when the first light arrives over the Hudson River, nothing needs to be resolved. The distance is gone. What remains is simple - two people, two voices, and a euphoric calm that lingers beyond the night.
From warm analog synths and soaring strings to driving melodic house grooves and high-octane club energy, the album flows like a continuous summer night in the city.
A fusion of languages. A story of distance and reunion. A night that gently becomes morning.
Listen, stay awhile.
Love,
Guillaume
