The Story
In the artist's words
Love from Amsterdam is a celebration of freedom, friendship, and the quiet belief that everyone deserves a place where they can simply be themselves. A cinematic journey through one unforgettable weekend in Amsterdam, the album blends melodic deep house, soulful house, progressive house, organic grooves, intimate acoustic moments, and the unmistakable energy of Dutch dance culture.
Told through the voices of Guillaume and Julie, the story begins where every great Amsterdam weekend begins - not with a plan, but with a morning at De Waag. One drink becomes another at De Jaren. A walk along the canals turns into an evening of music, boat parties, hidden dance floors, legendary nightlife, and conversations with people who, only hours before, were complete strangers.
Julie knows this city by heart. Guillaume has fallen in love with it. Together they discover that Amsterdam isn't defined by its canals or its cafés, but by its people. Here, nobody asks where you're from. Nobody asks who you love. Nobody asks you to explain yourself. They simply make room for one more chair, one more drink, one more story.
As the weekend unfolds, every chapter pays tribute to the artists who helped shape Dutch music and culture. From the communal warmth of André Hazes to the timeless songwriting of Het Goede Doel, from the euphoric melodies of Martin Garrix, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten to the fearless spirit of Charlotte de Witte, the playful creativity of Joost Klein and the cinematic grandeur of Floor Jansen, every song reflects a different heartbeat of the Netherlands while remaining unmistakably Club Hikari.
The city becomes the third character. Boats drift beneath centuries-old bridges. Pride celebrations dissolve into ordinary mornings where acceptance feels effortless. The music moves from sunlit terraces to golden-hour canals, from intimate cafés to legendary clubs, before gently returning to quiet streets, fresh bread, the first tram, and birds singing over the Vondelpark.
As the sun rises, Guillaume begins to understand what makes Amsterdam extraordinary. Freedom isn't found in monuments or speeches. It lives in everyday moments. In open doors. In shared tables. In laughter between strangers. In the quiet confidence that everyone belongs, regardless of nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or background. For centuries, Amsterdam has welcomed people searching for a new beginning. That spirit still lives here.
From warm analog synths and elegant melodic house to intimate acoustic performances that feel like conversations rather than songs, Love from Amsterdam unfolds as one continuous weekend. Every track flows into the next, carrying the listener through a city that never asks you to become someone else - only to become more of yourself.
This is not a tourist's Amsterdam. It's the Amsterdam locals carry in their hearts. A city where music builds bridges. A city where differences become conversations. A city where love needs no explanation.
Listen, stay awhile.
With love,
Guillaume
